The ghazal

O heart glad tidings that the morning breeze hath come back .

From the quarters of Saba the land of Queen Balkis the lap - wing of good news hath come back . *** O bird of the morning the bulbul , or the dove prolong the melody of Da , ud

For from the quarter of the air , the Sulaiman of the rose hath come back . *** From morn's breath , the tulip hath perceived the perfume of sweet wine

Hers was the heart's stain streak in hope of remedy she hath come back . *** In the world where is an Arif who understandeth the lily's tongue

That he may inquire Why she went and why she hath come back . *** In rear of that Kafila , my eye drew much water tears

Since to my heart's ear , the sound of the bell hath come back . *** Fortune , God - given , showed me manliness and kindness .

In that for God's sake , the idol of stone heart the beloved hath come back . *** Although Hafiz beat the door of offence and broke his covenant with the true Beloved

Behold His grace that , in peace , from our door , He our excuse accepting hath come back . ***
